Work into the front and back of a stitch as follows: knit into the stitch, then before slipping it off the needle, twist the right-hand needle behind the left-hand one and knit again into the back of the loop then slip the original stitch off the left-hand needle. There are now two stitches on the right-hand needle made from the original one.

一目に対して、前と後ろから針を入れます。
まず、編み出し目より1目を表編みで編み、右側の針に移します。次に編み出し目の向こう側より針を入れて(ねじり目を編むように)、2目の表編みを編みます。
この目はねじり目となります。

The method is similar. Purl into the front of the stitch, then purl into the back of it before slipping it of the needle.

編み方は表編みでの編み出し増やし目とほとんど同じです。編み出し目より1目を裏目で編み、次に右側の針を向こう側より手前に入れ(このとき編み出し目はねじれます)裏編みを編みます。

Another way to increase involves working into the stand between two stitches. Insert the right-hand needle from front to back under the horizontal strand which runs between the stitches on the right and left-hand needles and insert the left-hand needle from front to back.
Now knit or purl through the back of the strand to twist the new stitch so as to prevent the small hole which would otherwise form

目と目の間で増やす編み方です。
もう一つの増目の編み方として目と目の間に渡っている糸を
巻いて編み目を作るや　り方があります。
右側と左側の目の間に渡っている糸を右側の針で手前からかけます。
次に左側の針を手前より入れます。これで左側に1目増えました。
この編み方は増し目をしたところが目立ちません。
